Our programme offers exciting and unique visits that meet the National Curriculum across a range of subjects from Early Years to A-Level.
‘Stories on Stage’, ‘Play-in-a-Day’ and ‘Take Over the Theatre’ workshops focus on performing arts and drama, with the opportunity for students to experience what it takes to put together a theatrical performance.
The ‘In Shakespeare’s Time’ workshop develops students historical understanding, with a focus on the Guildhall’s links to Shakespeare, local history and the Tudor period.
Our ‘In Shakespeare’s Words’ workshop is a fantastic opportunity for students to build on their literacy skills and investigate Shakespearean language through engaging performance activities.
We welcome school groups to our art galleries and can offer bespoke workshops themed to the current exhibition. We can also offer CPD opportunities for teachers as part of the Heritage Education Network.
We also offer sessions for the Home Education community. We can adapt schools sessions to suit the requirements of the group.
We have a learning programme for schools which can be downloaded here but are always pleased to work with schools on bespoke activities and events not in the programme. To discuss please get in touch.
Our spaces are available for schools to hire. Whether it’s to have an exhibition of students’ work in one of our galleries or to hold the school performance in our historic theatre, we welcome our local schools to make use of our venue.

We are passionate about engaging the next generation to be a part of the story here at St. George’s Guildhall. We have an exciting programme of themed activities running throughout the year.
Dragon Arts, our fortnightly Saturday art classes, are led by a professional artist and give children the opportunity to be creative and experiment with different techniques and media.
During school holidays, we offer ever-popular family sessions, where everybody has the opportunity to take part in games, crafts and have fun on stage.
Throughout the year, we hold themed events, including Dragon Festival, Shakespeare’s Birthday Bash and Christmas at the Guildhall. Our events typically include live theatre, costumed characters, musicians, outdoor activities and games, a trail, crafts and refreshments.
