There have been Galleries on the site for a long time that have hosted a wide range of art exhibitions show casing the best of local talent, professional artists, famous historical work, children and young people, schools and touring exhibitions.
One of our galleries is the well loved The Fermoy Gallery. It is in one of the range of historic buildings behind the Guildhall and was converted in the 1960’s by Lady Fermoy, (lady in waiting to the late Queen Mother) as a memorial to her late husband, Lord Fermoy, a former mayor and MP of King’s Lynn.
At the moment, the galleries, like the theatre, are closed for refurbishment, but we can’t wait to welcome visitors back. With exciting improvements underway, we look forward to reopening and once again delivering a truly inspiring programme of visual arts for the region.
The main theatre is currently closed while it undergoes a major renovation, led by the Borough of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk. You can find out more here. However, you can still visit 29 King’s Street (Shakespeare House) to discover our history and learn about our exciting project to restore the country’s oldest working theatre.
